Ghanaian boxer, Joseph Sackey, has stated that founder and General Overseer of Believers Worship Centre, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, gifted him GH¢50,000 after learning that he wore his sticker on his shorts during a match at the “Battle of the Beasts” boxing event.
Despite losing the bout, Sackey’s gesture caught the pastor’s attention, leading to the generous reward.
Adom Kyei-Duah invited Sackey to his church, welcomed him warmly, and referred to him as “Adom Ba”.
The pastor’s gesture has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his kindness while others questioned his motives.
The boxer confirmed that the prophet gave him GH¢50,000 after he honoured an invitation to attend his Sunday church service on June 22, 2025.
In an emotional interview that went viral on X on June 22, 2025, shortly after the service, an elated Joseph Sackey expressed his joy after meeting the pastor.
“I’m incredibly happy. Everyone is now calling me Adom Ba,” he said with enthusiasm.
Sackey, who has aspirations of becoming a champion, added, “I’m ready to defeat any boxer who comes my way. I couldn’t believe it when Papa called me on stage. When I get home today, I will sleep peacefully; he calls me a champion, so I will become like him. Nobody can defeat me now.”
According to YEN.com.gh on June 22, 2025, Bernard Okyere, a member of the church, expressed his gratitude to their leader for the kind gesture.
“Due to work and schooling, I don’t get time to go to church as often as I want but I was happy when I heard the news. Papa is a good man and we thank God for using him to win souls and help the youth,” he said.
Sackey further noted that he had prepared spiritually for the match by utilising Prophet Kyei-Duah’s Grace Miracle Water, Miracle Oil, and Sobolo (a traditional Ghanaian beverage).
He felt confident and ready to win but the referee’s alleged actions derailed his chances.
Following the match, Joseph Sackey firmly defended his performance, insisting that the defeat was unjust.
He expressed frustration towards the referee, claiming that the official had tripped him during the bout, contributing to his loss.
Although he acknowledged feeling dazed from Khan’s punches, he argued that he could have continued fighting if not for the referee’s interference, which ultimately led to the fight being stopped prematurely.
