    Former President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Ackah Anthony, has passed away.

    His wife, Evelyn Ackah confirmed the sad news to GhanaWeb Sports.

    According to her, the late Ackah passed on in the early hours of Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Police Hospital in Accra.

    The late Anthony Ackah served as the president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) from 2007 to 2015.

    He was also a veteran journalist, who held the role of Assistant Editor at Graphic Sports under the Graphic Communications Group Limited.

    He was widely known for his popular column, “Candid Corner”, featured on the back page of “The Mirror”.

    Anthony during his tenure as the sixth president of SWAG, championed several initiatives, including organizing successful editions of the prestigious SWAG Awards and overseeing the redesign and refurbishment of the SWAG Club House in Dansoman, Accra.

    He also led a national membership drive to grow and strengthen the association.

    The late Anthony Ackah left behind his wife, Evelyn Ackah, a former Director at the Ministry of Information, and their four children.
