Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Subin constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for what he termed as a demonstrable commitment to put Ghana on a good footing, just 6 months into his governance.
According to the politician and tax accountant, President Mahama has indicated that he wants to indeed solve problems.
Sharing his thoughts on a wide range of issues bothering on Ghana politics, JB Danquah stated that, he is impressed by the initiatives the NDC has rolled out since it took power in January, 2025.
He made these remarks in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb on June 21, 2025.
“As you rightly stated, my name is Joseph Boakye Danquah. So, definitely, I belong to the JB Danquah tradition but to me, Ghana comes first before any political party.
“I do not care what political party it is? If you’re doing something good, I will praise you. If you’re doing something bad. It doesn’t matter which political party you belong to. I will condemn you. So far, with President Mahama, I think he is doing very well.
“I’m impressed with what he is doing? He has given the indication that he wants to solve problems. He has given indications that he is not the John Mahama we used to know or for business as usual but he is here to solve problems,” the former Subin parliamentary aspirant said.
In another breadth, JB Danquah backed calls for the review of the 1992 Constitution.
In his estimation, the current Constitution of Ghana is riddled with too many lacunas that ought to be plugged.
He particularly, noted that the 1992 Constitution gives the executive too much power and hence needs to be reshaped for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
