The Creative Arts Agency of Ghana under the able leadership of its Acting Executive Secretary, Gideon Aryeequaye has instituted an annual national writing festival dubbed ‘Writin’val’.

“Writin’val 2025 is set to celebrate all writing forms in Ghana at the National Theatre of Ghana.

It would also create a platform to connect all the sectors of the writing industry, including literary, journalism, screenwriting and copywriting for several reasons including development, investment, partnerships among other things” Gideon Aryeequaye hinted.

“As an annual literary festival, ‘Writin’val” this year, would host a series of sessions including master classes, workshops, performances, panel discussions, business plan presentations among others to celebrate, develop and promote Ghanaian writing industry—towards meeting the demands of educational needs; create employment; resuscitate the eroding beautiful culture of the state and thereby increasing its tourism currency.” he further stated.

The festival will be in two main forms: an online (webinar/zoom) session on Wednesday, June, 25, 2025, to discuss the business aspects of writing; and a physical session at the National Theatre of Ghana on June 26, 2025 where series of activities/sessions would run including book shows, book performances, writing workshops/master classes, writing conventions, to mention but a few.

Personalities scheduled to participate are from different areas—from academia to industry—and include the legendary Professor Ladé Wosornu,Dr. Sarah Dorgbadzi (renowned Ghanaian storyteller, theatre director and lecturer), Akofa Edjeani (ace Ghanaian actress and cultural activist), the Music for Good Awardee at the 26th Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), Epixode, George Bosompim (P.R.O. Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts(GAFTA), Amandzeba, Thelma Tackei and Valerie Danso and veteran newscaster, Nii Odartey Lamptey (all from Ghana Broadcasting Corporation), Apiorkor (poet and media personality with Citi fm/Channel One Tv) to mention but a few.

Writin’val 2025 is an initiative of Creative Arts Agency of Ghana(CAA) in partnership with the National Theatre of Ghana and Adwinsa Publications Ghana Ltd and supported by the Pan African Writers Association, Ghana Association of Writers, Graphic Showbiz, Yimvita and Ghana Tourism Development Company.
