Asamoah Gyan’s name has once again commanded respect far beyond the pitch, this time around, in unexpected places like Algeria.

Popular Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya shared a remarkable encounter during his travels in North Africa, revealing that he and his driver were stopped by Algerian police.

But once he mentioned he was from Ghana, the officer reportedly smiled and let them go, name-dropping none other than Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer.

The incident left Wode Maya stunned, giving accolades to the record African scorer in the World Cup.

“Because of you man, we have been released,” he said.

The encounter is a testament to Asamoah Gyan’s lasting legacy and the high regard he’s held in across the continent.

From iconic World Cup goals to unforgettable performances in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghanaian football legend’s name clearly still carries serious weight, even at a roadside checkpoint.

The heartwarming moment has quickly gone viral among Ghanaian fans online, with many applauding the former Black Stars captain for the global recognition he continues to bring to the country.
