The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has received a letter from the British Boxing Board of Control regarding Sharaf Mahama’s recent boxing event, “Battle of the Beasts”.
According to Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Communications Director of the GBA, the email’s content called for immediate intervention from the minister and the National Sports Authority to regulate the activities of boxing promoters.
This development follows Sharaf Mahama’s successful “Battle of the Beasts” event, which garnered significant attention in the boxing world.
The event featured notable bouts, including Jacob “The Beast” Dickson vs. Andrew Tabiti for the WBO Africa Bridgerweight title and Daniel Selassie Gorsh vs. Theo Allotey in the African Bantamweight division.
International boxing stars Anthony Joshua and Amir Khan attended the event, lending credibility and excitement to the tournament.
Joshua praised the event, stating, “It’s a step in the right direction, and I hope to see more of this.”
The Ghana Boxing Authority, the minister, and the National Sports Authority may need to collaborate to address potential issues and ensure compliance with international boxing regulations, given the concerns raised by the British Boxing Board of Control.
