British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua has proven there’s more to his Ghana visit than just uppercuts and weigh-ins; it’s been a whirlwind of luxury, local flavour, and heartfelt connections.

The two-time unified heavyweight champion arrived in Ghana on Friday, June 13, 2025, ahead of the highly anticipated Legacy Rise Sports “Battle of the Beasts” event organised by Sharaf Mahama, son of President John Dramani Mahama.

But since landing, the 34-year-old pugilist has swapped the boxing ring for scenic coastlines, roaring motorbikes, and sweet treats.

    Cruise in Ada

Perhaps the most talked-about moment of Joshua’s visit came during a lavish boat cruise hosted by Ghanaian business magnate Ibrahim Mahama.

The trio of Anthony Joshua, Ibrahim Mahama, and Sharaf Mahama set sail from Mahama’s private beachfront property in Ada, gliding across tranquil waters in a speedboat while Sharaf confidently led the way on a motor jet.

Dressed in his usual white shirt and life jacket, Joshua looked at ease, flashing smiles as cameras captured his time away from the spotlight.

The outing drew massive social media attention, with fans praising the warm Ghanaian hospitality and the calm charisma of the former world champ.

    Ride or die

Joshua’s connection with Ghanaian street culture was sealed almost instantly upon arrival.

When he spotted a sleek motorbike outside Kotoka International Airport, he hopped on with zero hesitation and joined local bikers for an impromptu ride through the capital, waving to excited fans.

In another viral moment, Ibrahim Mahama gifted Joshua a brand-new 2025 Honda CRF450R, a high-performance dirt bike worth around GH₵99,400.

The boxer beamed with joy as he received the surprise, his love for motorcycles clearly not lost on his hosts.

    Jubilee House visit

Joshua continued his tour with a courtesy call to President John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House on Monday, June 16, 2025.

He presented the president with a signed boxing glove and received a warm welcome in return.

President Mahama used the occasion to reflect on the state of Ghanaian boxing infrastructure, pledging to revive and expand the Bukom Boxing Arena project that began during his previous tenure.

    b>A taste of Mansa Gold

Joshua’s Ghana experience didn’t end on the road or at sea. He also made a stop at Mansa Gold, one of Ghana’s growing artisanal chocolate producers.

In a display of humility and curiosity, Joshua rolled up his sleeves and joined factory workers to pick cocoa beans and observe how the world-famous Ghanaian cocoa is transformed into premium chocolate.

Joined once again by Sharaf Mahama, the duo was seen sampling the finished product and interacting with staff, a moment that quickly found its way to fans across social media.

The journey isn’t over yet. Joshua remains in Ghana, continuing to explore the country’s culture, connect with its people, and embrace its vibrant spirit.

With more stops planned and his enthusiasm still high, the boxing star’s Ghana adventure is far from done, and fans are eagerly following every move as he discovers even more of what the country has to offer.
