Roy Keane tore into England‘s players after Thomas Tuchel‘s side crumbled to a 3-1 defeat against Senegal on Tuesday night.

The Three Lions were aiming for a much-improved display after labouring to a 1-0 win over Andorra on Saturday and took an early lead through Harry Kane.

But Senegal worked their way back into the game and equalised shortly before half time thanks to Ismaila Sarr, before second-half strikes from Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly sealed a famous victory for the African nation.

After watching two poor performances in three days, Keane believes Tuchel will be extremely concerned by what he has seen just 12 months before the World Cup. He also questioned the team spirit within the squad and suggested the players do not know what they are supposed to be doing.

‘The signs aren’t great,’ Keane said on ITV. ‘The rhythm wasn’t there. Dream start, go 1-0 up, made good changes. [But it] won’t be a good summer break for the manager and I think he’ll be concerned.

‘I think there’s something amiss. They don’t look like a happy group. Are they really all in it together? Is there a spirit amongst the group? I’m not sure.

‘They are all waiting for something to happen. These are quality players. They just seem to be lost.

‘The players are having a chat like they’re in Starbucks: do your job!’

Tuchel made 10 changes from Saturday’s narrow win over Andorra and Ian Wright acknowledged that this may have impacted England’s disjointed display at the City Ground.

It appears the German boss is yet to find his best XI after four games in charge, but Wright believes Tuchel still has time to turn things around.

‘It’s best that he finds out as soon as he possibly can,’ Wright said. ‘You have to get these players to gel.’

England will next play in September when they have two World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, with the pressure already mounting on Tuchel after a difficult start to his reign.
