Fatawu Issahaku has returned to light training with Leicester City as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury sustained late last year.

The 21-year-old, who had made an impressive start to life at Leicester, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in November 2023 while on international duty with Ghana during a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Angola.

He was substituted at halftime after feeling discomfort in his knee and subsequent scans confirmed significant damage, ruling him out for the rest of the 2023/24 season.

Now, several months into his rehabilitation, Fatawu is making visible progress.

In a video shared by the club on social media, the former Dreams FC star was seen back on the pitch, engaging in light drills and ball work, a promising sign for both Leicester and the Black Stars.

Before the injury, Issahaku had featured in 11 Championship matches for Leicester City, contributing two assists and earning praise for his pace, flair and work ethic.

Under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, he had quickly become a key figure in the Foxes’ attacking setup.

His absence coincided with a slump in form and Leicester’s campaign ultimately ended in relegation.

With the 2024/25 season fast approaching, Fatawu’s return to training offers renewed optimism that he could be ready for pre-season and play a vital role in the club’s attempt to bounce back to the Premier League while also boosting Ghana’s squad depth ahead of September’s World Cup qualifiers.
