Ghana midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana continues to make headlines in Italy after scoring a sensational goal in Atalanta’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Genoa in Serie A on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The 21-year-old, making only his second league start of the season, once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of Ghana’s most exciting young talents.

With Atalanta trailing 1-0 at halftime following a first-half goal from Genoa’s Andrea Pinamonti, Sulemana stepped up just two minutes into the second half.

He controlled a lofted pass with his chest just outside the penalty area, let it bounce, and unleashed a thunderous half-volley with his right foot.

The ball flew into the far bottom corner, leaving the Genoa goalkeeper with no chance and drawing Atalanta level.

Pinamonti scored again to restore Genoa’s lead, but Daniel Maldini and Mateo Retegui turned the game around in Atalanta’s favour.

This goal follows Sulemana’s heroics on the previous matchday, when he came off the bench to score the decisive goal in a 2-1 win against AS Roma—a result that helped secure Atalanta a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Sulemana’s back-to-back goals signal his growing influence in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad and his readiness to play a pivotal role in the future campaigns of both club and country.
