According to singer Kojo Blak, “Shatta Wale’s influence catalysed” the popularity of his hit song Excellent.

Speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo midmorning show, the Afrobeats artist explained that Reggae/Dancehall star and record producer Shatta Wale mentioned him and played his song several times during social media live streams. This exposure caused Shatta Wale’s “strong fanbase” to take a liking to both him and his music.

“If somebody like Shatta Wale loves a song, people would want to know more about the artiste,” Kojo Blak added.

He noted that although he has yet to meet Shatta Wale in person, “I speak to him on the phone.”

“I won’t lie – the energy and the warm reception I get from all these legends in Ghana is remarkable!” he said happily.

Kojo Blak’s Excellent, released in December 2024, became a viral hit in the New Year. In February 2025, Shatta Wale appeared on a TikTok Live session where he spotlighted Kojo Blak, playing Excellent and expressing his admiration for the track.

On May 10, Kojo Blak performed a solo rendition of the song—originally featuring Kelvynboy—at Ghana’s most prestigious entertainment awards show, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
