     The fate of about 156 pupils at Da­da-banyarko D/A primary school at Kwame Danso in the Sene West District of Bono East Region hangs in the balance, following the collapse of their school build­ing due to a heavy rains that hit the area on Sunday.

    The school authorities have no other option than to hold classes under trees, at least for now.

    The Headmistress of Da­da-banyarko D/A Primary School, Ms Monica Baffah, who confirmed the story to The Gha­naian Times on phone yesterday appealed to the Sene West Dis­trict Assembly and Ghana Educa­tion Service to act fast before the situation gets out of hand.

    Ms Baffah told The Gha­naian Times that the structure serving as a school was a shed constructed by the community in November 2019 and absorbed by government.

    The structure, she explained, consists of KG up to class three with the upper primary having classes under trees since the school did not adequate facilities.

    “Due to the dilapidated nature of the structure most of the pu­pils are dropping out of school, affecting enrolment,” she said.

    According to her, although officials from the District Direc­torate of Education had visited the school, nothing concrete had been done to salvage the situa­tion.

    When contacted, the Assem­blyman for Nana Santo Elec­toral Area, Bright Boadum, said for the interim some opinion leaders from Dada and Banyar­ko communities had decided to reconstruct the structure to resume effective teaching and learning there adding that, “I’m in touch with the Sene West District Assembly to construct a befitting school building for the school.”
