    Ghanaian internationals Inaki Williams and Abdul Mumin have been nominated for the 2024/25 La Liga African Player MVP Award, highlighting their outstanding contributions this season.

    Inaki Williams, who won the award last year, is aiming to defend his title after an impressive campaign with Athletic Bilbao.

    The pacey forward has scored six goals and provided six assists in La Liga, ranking as the club’s second-highest scorer and third in assists across the league, behind only Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

    His efforts have been crucial in Bilbao’s push for Champions League qualification, with the club currently sitting 4th with 64 points and three games to go.

    In Europe, Inaki also added five goals and an assist in Bilbao’s Europa League run to the semifinals.

    Abdul Mumin, despite a season-ending knee injury, has also earned a nomination. The Rayo Vallecano defender made 24 league appearances, scoring twice and assisting once.

    He played a key role in six clean sheets and tallied 120 clearances, 37 tackles, and 23 interceptions, without conceding a single penalty.

    Mumin’s consistency and composure earned him the club’s Player of the Month award and La Liga’s Goal of the Month in September for a stunning strike against Osasuna.

    They face stiff competition from top African talents including Reinildo Mandava (Atletico Madrid), Flavien Enzo Boyomo (Osasuna), and the Villarreal trio of Pape Gueye, Nicolas Pepe, and Logan Costa.

    The winner, decided by fan votes from Sub-Saharan Africa and a panel of 25 African sports journalists, will be announced on Africa Day, May 25, 2025. Voting closes May 14, 2025.
