Ghanaian music legend Reggie Rockstone made an unexpected yet triumphant leap into the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) over the weekend, stunning fans with a dramatic submission victory at the Global World Championship held at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

At 61, the pioneer of hiplife music silenced doubters as he defeated opponent William Adom in a thrilling bout that drew massive attention from both the sports and entertainment communities.

Despite a challenging start in the early rounds due to age and stamina, Reggie displayed remarkable resilience and experience, eventually locking his opponent in a chokehold that led to a submission win.

The arena erupted in applause as the rap icon secured victory, proving that age is no barrier to ambition or achievement.

The high-energy event attracted a star-studded audience, including prominent figures like Kimathi Rawlings, and was packed with fans eager to witness history in the making.

For many, it was a surreal moment to see the “Godfather of Hiplife” trading verses for punches—and doing so with remarkable poise.

Speaking ahead of the bout, Reggie Rockstone revealed that his foray into MMA wasn’t as surprising as it seemed.

“If you’ve known me for over 50 years, you’d know I started martial arts before music. I was the youngest Shotokan brown belt and a two-time junior Taekwondo champion,” he said.

He added that stepping into the MMA ring at his age was a personal challenge as well as a statement.

“I want to inspire the youth and shine a light on Ghana’s growing MMA scene. There’s so much talent here, and it deserves the spotlight.”
