In a meticulously prepared operation on Wednesday, Accra police neutralized six dangerous offenders. According to TV3GH, the police have been tracking the criminals for months using community information.
The operation led cops to a hideout on the outskirts of Accra, where the suspects opened fire on the police as they approached, leading officers to return fire. “These criminals have terrorized our neighborhoods for far too long,” stated Police Commander Kwesi Annan, who cited the group’s involvement in violent robberies, assaults, and attempted kidnappings.
The cops had surrounded the rundown house where the gang was hiding. When the criminals resisted arrest and fired at the officers, a gunfight erupted, lasting several minutes and killing all six suspects. “They were heavily armed and ready to fight, but we were prepared,” claimed an officer who requested anonymity.
Following the encounter, police seized many weapons, including pistols, ammunition, and machetes, which were thought to be linked to recent crimes. Investigations are ongoing to establish whether the group is linked to other violent offenses around the country.
Local people were relieved, with one stating, “It’s a huge weight off our shoulders.” We’ve been living in fear for far too long, and it’s a relief to know these crooks are no longer around.” Police reported that no policemen were harmed during the operation.
