Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared how his temporary absence from the internet affected the entire music industry.
Speaking in a recent interview, he disclosed that the tragic loss of his son caused him to take a break from music and social media.

Recall that Ifeanyi Adeleke, the late son of Davido and Chioma, had drowned in a swimming pool at their home in Banana Island on October 31st, 2022.

The tragic death of their three-year-old son prompted both parents to stay away from social media for a while.

Opening up about the personal moment in his life, he revealed that despite not being active on social media people still loved him, and even people who claimed to hate him missed his presence.

“At that time I had not recorded ‘Unavailable’ there was no plan, all I knew was that people loved me. When I was not active on the internet, the whole industry shut down, like it was so quiet out there. Even people who hated me were asking me to come back online so they could diss me. That was what motivated the lyrics.” He said

He further added that the silence in the music industry during that period inspired some of the lyrics in his comeback album ‘Timeless’ like ‘I dey live my life, man dey turn ham to shoot on sight.’
