Former hiplife musician-turned-gospel minister Yaw Siki has shared a deeply personal story about the sacrifices and soul-searching journey that led him to Christ.

In an honest conversation on the GTV Breakfast Show, Yaw Siki reflected on the emotional emptiness he experienced even at the height of his fame, and how it eventually brought him to a life of faith.

“I remember when I had just transformed and started following the Lord Jesus. While waiting on Him, some people called and wanted me on a song and at a show, but I had to deny myself — even though I had nothing at the time,” he said.

Yaw Siki, who shot to fame with his hit song Wopɛ Dodo, said things looked good on the surface, the shows, the fame, and the dreams all seemed to be aligning. But deep within, he felt lost.

“Initially, it was fun, pleasurable, and I was achieving the dream. But then I became empty while I was there. Two years after Wopɛ Dodo, I felt so empty in my room — there was no joy.”

It was during this low point that he began to hear a “small voice,” gently guiding him toward a different path, one rooted in service to God.

“And in that emptiness, there was that small voice leading, urging, or inspiring me to come to the Lord and to serve Him.”

Since making that shift, Yaw Siki has not looked back. When asked whether he misses his old lifestyle, his answer was firm: “Not at all.”
