President John Dramani Mahama has urged the youth, particularly those from mining communities, to embrace a new path toward entrepreneurship and economic empowerment through the Adwumawura Program.

Speaking at the launch on Monday, April 28, 2025, he announced that the program would prioritise youth involved in illegal mining activities, popularly referred to as galamsey.

“For youth who come from mining communities and were involved in galamsey, we want to shift you away from illegal mining. We will prioritise you to set up your own businesses, creating jobs and shaping a sustainable future,” he declared.

President Mahama further indicated that the program is designed to equip the youth to become entrepreneurs.

“My young brothers and sisters, the big businesses of today were once the startups and micro-enterprises of yesterday. We are not all born to be employees; we can also be employers, innovators, and community builders,” he stated.

“If you have been searching for the opportunity to launch or grow a business, the Adwumawura Program is your answer. Embrace it, own it, build your dreams, and through them, build a better Ghana,” he added.

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP), operating under the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, will oversee the implementation of the program.
