Ghanaian entertainment pundit, Nana Frimpong Ziega (L) and Sam George (R) Ghanaian entertainment pundit, Nana Frimpong Ziega (L) and Sam George (R)

Ghanaian entertainment pundit, Nana Frimpong Ziega, has taken a jab at the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, for stating that he would liaise with a colleague to address Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye’s concerns about film piracy in Ghana.

During a discussion on United Showbiz on April 27, 2025, Ziega said Sam George’s comment, indicating he would refer the matter to the minister responsible for overseeing television content, suggests he does not fully understand his own job description.

He emphasised that Sam George’s role gives him the power to oversee such a situation therefore the minister was wrong to state that he would channel the situation to a colleague minister.

“Which colleague minister is there to oversee television content? It could be he was writing agency instead of ministry. If that is the case, he should have come to correct the mistake. This is confusing because how can a minister of state do such a thing? He is responsible for such a role.

“President Mahama has changed most of the role and he should be aware. Our communication minister is Sam George and therefore all these things are under him. He is embarrassing us,” he said.

    Background

In response to Nigerian actress Bimbo Ademoye’s Instagram rant, in which she tagged him amid accusations that Ghanaian TV stations are stealing and airing her content, Sam George said:

“My attention has been drawn to your post thanks to the tag. I would be raising the issue with my colleague minister responsible for overseeing television content. However, I wish to assure you that our government is very respectful of intellectual property rights and will ensure the protection of same.”
