Ghanaian-based Liberian singer and songwriter, Jonathan Lee Pratt, popularly known as J ZyNo, has credited Ghana as his foundation in music, where he got massive recognition.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty on April 24, 2025, J ZyNo disclosed that he got his first global hit in Ghana and besides him being a Liberian, he prefers to promote his music in Ghana.

His breakthrough came with the hit single, “Butta my bread,” featuring Lasmid, which went global, including it being at number 50 on the billboard US.

“Ghana is number one because, to be honest, this is where my foundation is when it comes to music. This is where I have my DJs and my dancers, promoters; this is where I have that spirit as a musician.

“Yes, I’m from Liberia, but I started music here so if I don’t start my promotion and stuff from here, I don’t feel like I’m promoting even if I’m in the US or in Europe and I drop a song there. I feel like I need to do fast and go back to Ghana because this is where it started. It worked for me when it started here and I got my global hit song from here as well so Ghana is my base,” J ZyNo shared.

The singer also explained how he felt meeting Game for the first time and how he related with him when they met, stating; “The feel wasn’t like I was afraid of him because in his music videos, you will see guns and stuffs, I mean I saw a celebrity. Yes, I’m one, but no that’s a legend.

“Game trying to shake my hand, I rubbed my hand on my chest. Because if someone who make hits globally and I’m about to walk with him, shaking my hands, calling me king, I was blessed anyways. The feel was just exciting.”
