An experimental aircraft used for stunts at air shows has crashed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
The single seater MX Aircraft MXS crashed while ‘on approached’ to the base in Hampton Thursday, WTKR reported.
No further details about injuries have emerged but first responders are at the scene.
The plane crashed two days before the Air Power Over Hampton Roads air show.
It remains unclear if the plane that crashed was practicing for that event.
‘The preliminary information we have is the plane crashed on approach to the Langley Air Force Base under unknown circumstances,’ the NTSB said in a statement.
‘An NTSB investigator is en route to the scene and is expected to arrive tomorrow morning.
‘Once on site, the investigator will begin the process of documenting the scene and examining the aircraft.
‘The aircraft will then be recovered to a secure facility for further evaluation.’
