The General Overseer of Lead Shepherd Authority Bible Church, Rev Nanayaa Prempeh, has sparked reactions after she stated that couples who make the habit of ‘putting God first’ may not necessarily have a happy marriage.

In a discussion on JoyPrime on April 24, 2025, Nanayaa Prempeh noted that nothing can ensure a long-lasting marriage as speculated by some individuals.

She emphasised that putting God first cannot guarantee a successful marriage.

“Being married early never guarantees a long-lasting marriage. Also, marrying the richest man, a same-age person and even a man or woman of God never guarantees a long-lasting marriage.

“Nothing guarantees a long-lasting marriage. Even when people decide to play God first doesn’t guarantee,” she said.

Rev Nanayaa Prempeh, who is also a marriage counsellor, however, noted that if a couple involves God in their marriage, the chances at which the marriage can work is very high.

“The probability that it would work if God is in it is very high. But there are no guarantees because men would always be men and women would always be women,” she added.
