Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Enoch Morrison has opened up about his challenging experience working under Prosper Ogum, revealing how the former coach’s rigid approach and poor communication caused tension within the squad.

According to Morrison, Ogum frequently ignored feedback, overreacted to criticism, and held grudges against players.

This revelation comes in the wake of Ogum’s dismissal from Asante Kotoko after a string of poor results that left the 2022 Ghana Premier League champions six points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.

His sacking has fueled widespread speculation among fans and analysts, with many suggesting he may have lost the dressing room.

Consequently, an old interview with Morrison discussing his struggles under Ogum has resurfaced and gained renewed attention.

In the interview with Fakye TV, the Gor Mahia midfielder criticized Ogum’s leadership style.

“For me, he’s challenging, not because he pressures the players; he does that with the club’s best interests at heart. The real difficulty comes when we express concerns. Sometimes, he tends to overreact when we voice our issues. For instance, if we suggest a different approach, he usually insists on doing things his way,” he explained.

Morrison also noted that Ogum sometimes failed to separate personal feelings from professional decisions.

“Another issue I have is his communication with the players. When someone isn’t getting playing time, or when a player says something he doesn’t like, his way of handling it can be problematic. He often takes it personally and begins to hold it against the player, which only makes things harder,” he added.

Morrison played under Ogum during the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League season, a campaign in which Asante Kotoko failed to retain the title they had won in 2022.
