Newly appointed Asante Kotoko interim coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has made it clear that his immediate focus is on securing victories rather than playing attractive football.

The Porcupine Warriors’ sudden dip in form has left them six points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League standings.

With the title race heating up, Kotoko will need to be at their absolute best to mount a serious challenge and reclaim the top spot before the season ends.

Zito, who replaced Prosper Ogum following his dismissal on Monday, April 21, 2025, emphasised the need for results during his official unveiling at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium conference room.

“Fans must be content with only winning. All we are after is winning, to see us back on top. It is not about ‘beautiful football’ now. It is about who wins, and this is what we are going to struggle to do. Operation 18 points and I like tackling match after match,” he said.

According to Sarfo Duku, the club’s Communications Director, Zito has been tasked with leading the team to win both the FA Cup and the GPL title.

Zito will kick off his reign as Kotoko head coach with a Premier League clash against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
