Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has revealed that former Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor was one of his biggest inspirations during his early years in football.

The young talent, renowned for his flair and confidence on the ball, has been sidelined since November 2024 after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury during the Black Stars’ game against Angola.

Despite the setback, Issahaku has begun gym workouts as he prepares for a comeback.

In an interview with Afro Ballers, the forward opened up about the players who inspired his ambition and influenced his style as he progressed through the ranks.

According to Issahaku, Emmanuel Adebayor was not just a footballer he admired, but also a role model.

“I will say Emmanuel Adebayor. He is one of the players who inspired me a lot, and his lifestyle, how he plays, and everything just kept me motivated,” he said.

Before his injury, Issahaku provided two assists in the Premier League, playing 11 games. Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, Leicester City has suffered relegation, meaning his return to football could be in the Championship.
