An ecommerce ‘CEO’ has sparked fury for gloating about flying first class with a blunt message to travelers in economy.

Jake Bass, who shares tips on social media for running online businesses, shared a series of photos taken from a first class Emirates journey he’d taken.

‘Recently, I was in the Emirates First Class lounge,’ he wrote. ‘I looked over the glass at everyone flying economy below. We were having two very different experiences.

    ‘We’re not the same.’

Bass appeared to be attempting to share a motivational perspective, insisting in the post that he wasn’t ‘born into’ the wealth needed to travel first class, but had instead ‘chose the hard path.’

Instead, he simply invoked fury, with critics arguing he ‘lacked class’ and came off as ‘greedy and selfish.’

‘Your post comes off as super smug schmuck, implying that those who can’t afford to fly first class are just victims of their own poor life choices. Bad form,’ one said.

‘Here – someone take a picture of me in first class with my drink so I can use it for the witty bragging post I already have concocted in my head,’ another added.

‘Getting self affirmation by looking down on people. Probably did not get a lot in childhood. Tsk,’ a third wrote.

Bass said he flew his father with him to Dubai in first class, revealing it cost $50,000 and that it was just the pair of them in the first class cabin.

‘I sat there thinking – what made our journey so different from the 468 behind us?’ he asked.

‘Then I saw the pilot adjust our course by just 1° to avoid turbulence. Barely noticeable… But hours later, we were far off the original path.

‘That’s when it clicked: Just a slight change in direction with consistently, changes everything.’

Bass included a photo looking down on all the people sitting in the main part of the airport, boasting that he’d taken the picture from the Emirates first class lounge.

He also shared a series of selfies and pictures of the first class cabin of the plane itself, documenting the meal he was served, the space of the bed and the screen.

Bass was roundly mocked for the callous words, with one person noting: ‘Nobody buying your course lil bro.’

Another said: ‘What a BS post. First picture isn’t Emirates, and a first class ticket is not 50k. Clearly you are unfortunate… with your false bragging.’

Bass responded arguing he bought two round trip flights from Brisbane, Australia, to Dubai. Currently, round trips on that route on Emirates are selling for about $12,000 a ticket.

He claims to be a Forbes ’30 under 30 nominee.’ Any person under the age of 30 can self nominate or be nominated by a friend to be considered. Around 1,000 make the list each year, although it does not appear that Bass has ever been one of them.

The social media user claims to have earned ‘eight figures in ecommerce sales’, but the precise nature of his business is vague.

When asked explicitly what he does for work, Bass said he is ‘managing several businesses’ and describes himself as a ‘CEO and founder.’
