Popular Nigerian comedian and prophet Woli Arole has taken to social media to express his disapproval over Christians falling victim to the CBEX scam.
Sharing on his Instagram page, he noted that he is disappointed in Christians and even Pastors who participated in this Ponzi scheme.
According to him, many believers ignored spiritual discernment and rushed into a scheme that promised quick money.
He went on to criticize business owners who are unwilling to invest in marketing for their legitimate business yet are quick to drop large sums into suspicious platforms.
His post read;
“Imagine a Christian or a Pastor losing money to CBEX. Whattttttt. Where’s your
DISCERNMENT. As Christians, we should Discern with the Holy GHOST. Don’t just jump into things. It’s so SAD that some business owners won’t use their MONEY to do advert for their brands, but they can drop money for CIBEX. There’s no quick MONEY.”
Arole’s post has since gone viral, sparking conversations around greed and lack of discernment.
While many agreed with his stance, others pointed out that Nigerians have a recurring tendency to fall for get-rich-quick schemes and fraudulent investments, often ignoring red flags in the process.
Below are some of the comments;
“Anywhere you’re promised quick returns through websites or app are often SC..AM. Is it greed or gullibleness? to believe a platform can be giving you profits just like that. I sympathize with the victims sha.“
“Nigerians don’t learn; after all the fake Ponzi schemes, they still fall, bring another in a month, and people will still invest money, the get rich quick syndrome has them on chokehold.“
“The first place I heard of mmm was in a church. In fact the university pastor advised everyone to do it. People lost money cos he promoted it in church! If you like don’t have your own mind, dey follow pastor wey no know road.“
