Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has expressed her gratitude to a young girl who was recently seen in a viral video dancing to her latest single, “Too Late”, a clip that sparked widespread discussions across social media.

In an interview with Hitz FM on April 11, 2025, Wendy Shay described the teenager as a blessing to her and her career.

“She has really been a blessing. That video changed everything,” Wendy said.

Both Wendy Shay and the teenager faced backlash online after the video went viral.

Many netizens criticised the girl’s sensual dance moves and pointed to the song’s alleged vulgar lyrics as inappropriate, especially for someone her age.

But despite the controversy, Wendy Shay has emphasised the positive impact the video has had on her music.

“People can say whatever they want, but the fact is that video helped me. The song is now playing in over 50 countries,” she stated.

Wendy Shay maintained that while the criticism was expected, the outcome proved that even negative attention can lead to major breakthroughs.

“I realised that the song she was dancing to is Too Late which I released three months ago. And the video caught my attention and has shed light and brought so much attention to my song.

“Right now it is chatting over 50 countries which is mind-blowing. I was overwhelmed. I am so grateful to God and the little girl. She is a blessing to me,” she said.
