Many fans have been left shocked and outraged by the omission of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey from the Champions League Team of the Week.

The Arsenal star delivered a commanding performance in midfield during Arsenal’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, earning widespread praise for his composure, defensive brilliance, and control of the game.

Despite his standout display, Partey was left out of UEFA’s official Team of the Week, with Declan Rice, Vitinha, and Nicolò Barella taking the midfield spots instead.

The decision has sparked heated reactions from football fans, particularly among Arsenal supporters, who believe the 31-year-old fully deserved a place among Europe’s best for the week.

The full Champions League Team of the Week:

    Goalkeeper: Yann Sommer

Defenders: Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Alessandro Bastoni, Nuno Mendes

Midfielders: Declan Rice, Vitinha, Nicolò Barella

Forwards: Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Read some of the fans’ reactions below:
