Ghanaian dancer Amofa Michael, popularly known as Incredible Zigi, has disclosed that his family did not support him to pursue dance when he first started his career.

Incredible Zigi revealed that his family did not initially believe it could be a successful career choice.

According to the award-winning dancer, the turning point came when his success became visible, not only financially, but also through his influence on others and his appearances on big stages.

The dancer mentioned that his family is now proud of his accomplishments in dance and often tells others that he is their child.

Incredible Zigi further emphasised that he takes pride in inspiring others to pursue dance as a career.

“It wasn’t like that in the beginning, they were not supportive of it but when they got to see that dance is paying and seeing their son on television and seeing me carry a whole group of people and inspiring them, they supported it.

“Now they are proud of me, they call me on video call and say this is my child. I am also proud now being a dancer and there is nothing more fun about making a career out of something you love doing,” he said on TV3’s Showbiz 360 show.

Incredible Zigi is known for popularising several dance steps in Ghana, including Pilolo and Kupe.

He has become a household name in the creative space, particularly in the dance industry and he is also the founder of the Afrozig Movement, a choreography dance group.
