Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has expressed deep gratitude to Ghanaians for their support, which he believes played a crucial role in earning his call-up to the Black Stars.

Asare, who has been in fine form for both club and country, says the backing from fans, coupled with his hard work, helped him break into the national team ahead of Ghana’s matches against Chad and Madagascar.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper impressed in both games, keeping clean sheets and cementing his place as Ghana’s number one shot-stopper—an achievement that has drawn praise from many Ghanaians.

“What I will say is that with the Black Stars, although it is by the grace of God that I got the call-up, I want to first of all say thank you to the supporters, the management, and most of the Ghanaian players and authorities,” he said in an interview with Peace FM.

“I didn’t achieve this alone. They helped me reach this milestone. My determination is that when I’m in the goalpost, it won’t be easy to concede. If you are a goalkeeper and you keep clean sheets, people will notice. So I would say my hard work helped me earn this call-up.”
