The Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has clashed with sports broadcaster, Collins Atta Poku after the latter criticised him over his handling of John Ntim Fordjour‘s drug trafficking claims.

John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, had alleged that drug trafficking or money laundering had taken place via some aircraft that came through Ghana recently.

In an attempt to refute Fordjour’s claims, Kwakye Ofosu, who also serves as Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, shared images of the said plane being repaired in Ghana while stating in the caption that the supposed drug-carrying flight had rather made an emergency landing due to burst tyres.

In response, Atta Poku quoted Kwakye Ofosu’s tweet, arguing that Ntim Fordjour does not trust him (Kwakye) and that such explanations should come from the appropriate authorities.

“You know what’s funny? Ntim Fordjour says he doesn’t believe anything coming from you. You also say he is a clown. He says he would’ve believed this if it was from NACOC, CID, or NIB. What are we waiting for? Let the relevant agencies, as directed by Mr. President, deal with him,” he wrote.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu then replied Atta Poku, asserting that the MP for Assin South has no evidence to support his claim and does not get to determine who provides the evidence to disprove it.

“Does Ntim Fordjour, who has not put out a shred of evidence to back his claim, get to determine the outlet used to present facts that expose his lies?

“Is his word sacrosanct, especially when he provides no evidence?” he also wrote.

    Background:

The MP for Assin South and the Minority’s Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, claimed at a press conference on April 1, 2025, that two flights – an air ambulance and a private jet, might have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

He alleged that one of the aircraft, Air MED flight L823 AM, landed in Ghana on March 20 and stayed for five days without any record of transporting a patient.

These allegations led President John Mahama to order security agencies to “immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable Member of Parliament so he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing.”

President Mahama also directed all security agencies to work with Rev Ntim Fordjour to investigate the drug trafficking and money laundering claims involving the two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

He emphasised that Ghana has a zero-tolerance policy for drug trafficking and will not allow the country to be used as a transit or final destination for illicit drugs.

You know what’s funny, Ntim Fordjour says he doesn’t believe anything coming from you. You also say he is a clown. He says he would’ve believed this, if it was from NACOC, CID or NIB.

He doesn’t and hasn’t got the right to determine so. You called Mr. President’s response to his allegations a definitive take. You have a once in a lifetime opportunity to expose and shame using the relevant agencies as Mr. President directed. What stops you? Unleash them. https://t.co/CaghLWJkAC
