A member of the communications team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has called on the leadership of the party to caution former flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong against making divisive statements about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 flagbearer.

According to Ellen, Kennedy Agyapong has reportedly blamed the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections on Dr. Bawumia’s religious background, a move she believes is unfair and counterproductive.

She cautioned that if such blame games continue, supporters of Dr. Bawumia may also be forced to speak out against Kennedy Agyapong.

In an interview on Movement TV on April 4, 2025, Ellen stressed the importance of party unity as the NPP prepares for the next election cycle.

“At this point in time, we haven’t even started the race yet. But what Kennedy Agyapong has started, I see it as a joke. He is blaming Dr. Bawumia for something that is not his fault. It is not Bawumia’s fault that he is a Muslim,” she said.

“For Kennedy, is he a Christian? Is he not the same person who fought pastors in this country? He is also a factor that contributed to the loss of the elections. So, the party should call him to order, or else some of us will also rise and begin to speak out against him,” she added.

Ellen emphasised that the NPP must focus on healing and rebuilding rather than engaging in internal blame games if the party hopes to return to power.
