    Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars insists his side were the better team in their 1-0 friendly win over Senegal on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

    The Swede guided his team to defeat the Teranga Lionesses in Dakar in a preparatory match for this July’s TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

    Evelyn Badu’s 24th-minute header separated the two sides, and the visitors had to seal the victory the hard way after Anasthesia Achiaa was sent off in the 63rd minute.

    In his post-game speech, Lars said: “Of course, this is professional football, and you are always happy when you win. For us, one of the most important things was to win the game.

    “We knew before the game that it would be a tough one for us, a tough away game. We knew that Senegal could be physical. I felt the start was pretty good. I would say the first 30 minutes were solid, and we also scored a beautiful goal, exactly how we want to play—with the perfect cross. Evelyn came from the number 10 position and scored with a great header, something she started the game well with.

    “I felt that at the end of the first half, we were starting to fall into the physical style of play, with more stops, more of the Senegalese way of playing. So, we talked at halftime about needing to play football on the ground, play a little faster again, but we didn’t.

    “Then early in the second half, we got the red card, and from that moment, it was a completely different game.”

    The Black Queens will face the Teranga Lionesses again on Wednesday in a reverse fixture to be played in Dakar.

    Ghana is currently in Senegal for a nine-day training camp.
