Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has refuted accusations that she ordered an attack on supporters of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong.

In an interview shared on X by Ouna TV on Friday, April 5, 2025, she denied any involvement in the alleged attack.

She emphasised that she has no issues with Ken Agyapong, the former MP for Assin Central, or his supporters that would prompt her to order such an attack.

“I have not had any problem with anybody. I have not seen him (the person supposedly attacked). I have not seen him since the election. So if he says I have ordered people to beat him up, what did he do for me to give such an order? I know nothing about it,” she said in Twi.

The former Awutu Senya East legislator, who also served as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development under former President Akufo-Addo, suggested that these allegations are being made due to the success of her recent “Thank You” tour of the constituency.

She further stated that she has good relations with the Ken Agyapong supporters who were allegedly attacked.

She claimed that these supporters visited her at her residence after the NPP presidential primaries, where they were each given GH¢5,000 by her financier.

    Background:

According to a report by classfmonline.com, some supporters of Ken Agyapong have expressed fear due to continuous threats and attacks from fellow party members.

One supporter recounted being attacked at a party event on Monday, raising concerns about the growing hostility toward those who supported Agyapong’s campaign.

These supporters have urged the leadership of the party to address the situation, as it threatens the party’s unity efforts.
