Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using foul means to win the 2024 general elections.
According to him, his observations during the election period suggest that the NDC employed illegal strategies to win some constituencies that should have favored the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency criticised some youth who later regretted their actions of vandalising the properties of government officials after NPP Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat before the official announcement of the results.
“If you examine the recently concluded elections, our friends [NDC] used various methods to cheat us. When our flagbearer conceded early in the morning for the sake of national peace, they began attacking us and took advantage to engage in unnecessary actions,” he said in Twi while addressing gospel musicians Great Ampong and Omane Acheampong during a visit.
Afenyo-Markin noted that the party will assess the setbacks during the elections and make necessary corrections to emerge stronger in the 2028 elections.
“In all this, we have learned our lessons. Now, it’s a matter of preparing for the battle ahead, correcting our mistakes, and I believe it will be well with us,” he added.
