Black Stars midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has endured a challenging two seasons, with injuries affecting his progress and limiting his time on the field.

The Ghanaian last played in February 2023, during matchday 19 of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season, when SC Freiburg suffered a 1-5 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Despite these setbacks, Kyereh was seen training with his teammates ahead of the 2024/25 season but has yet to feature for Freiburg.

As he prepares for his return from injury, Kyereh has opened up about his experiences with the Black Stars.

Kyereh was a key member of the Black Stars squad during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Although he has missed several recent matches for the Black Stars, he cherishes the memories of representing his country on the international stage.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Africa, the 29-year-old reflected on the significance of representing Ghana.

“Representing Ghana on the international stage has been one of the most humbling and transformative experiences of my life. Personally, it’s about carrying the legacy and dreams of my family and community every time I step onto the pitch,” he said.

Kyereh further revealed how his football journey has been shaped by considerable effort, dedication, and personal sacrifices.

“Professionally, it’s a reminder of the hard work and sacrifices that have paved my journey, an opportunity to test myself against the best in the world while staying true to my roots,” he added.

Since making his debut in 2021, Kyereh has earned 18 caps for the Black Stars.
