The Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament, James Agalga, has instructed Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Committee, to adhere to the president’s directives and work in collaboration with the state security agencies regarding his allegations concerning the arrival of mysterious flights linked to drug trafficking.
In a letter dated April 2, 2025, shared by the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, James Agalga responded to Rev John Ntim Fordjour’s earlier request for a joint briefing by the National Security, Police CID, NIB, and the Narcotics Control Commission to the committee.
The requested briefing aimed to address critical issues, including the gold bust at Sapeiman, cocaine seizures, and the suspicious arrival of flights into the country.
In response, James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for Builsa North, emphasised the importance of his colleague working closely with the security agencies to verify the accuracy of his claims.
He stated that this is crucial as the country’s reputation is at stake.
Agalga also warned that failing to investigate the matter thoroughly and address it promptly could lead to serious risks and consequences for both the nation and its economy as a whole.
“In view of the fact that the allegation made by your good self in relation to drug trafficking and money laundering with the involvement of two aircrafts namely; Airmed Flight N823 AM and Cavok Air Antonov AN12B, which landed at the Kotoka Airport border on the commission of crime, it is important that you collaborate with the security agencies to expose any wrongdoing and also to safeguard the reputation of our beloved country,” he said in the letter.
Acknowledging the need for a briefing from the security agencies on these issues, Agalga further stated in his letter that the committee will take urgent steps to obtain updates and the outcomes of investigations conducted by the agencies thus far when the House reconvenes.
“Subsequently, urgent steps will be taken to invite the agencies listed above and the National Security Coordinator to brief the committee on the outcome of investigations conducted so far in relation to your request when the House reconvenes. Hon Colleague, please accept my warmest regards,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, voicing his opinion on the matter, Dafeamekpor accused Ntim Fordjour of attempting to use his immunity as a lawmaker to avoid being held accountable for his claims, rather than presenting them to the security agencies as directed by the president.
“Ntim Fordjour is advised by his Chairman, the Hon James Agalga to comply with the president’s directive to cooperate with the security agencies to investigate his allegations and not hide behind parliamentary cloak of oversight,” he posted on X on April 3, 2025.
