Renowned Kumawood actor Agya Koo has said he is shocked at the reaction by many government sympathisers against him.

This comes amid a backlash against Agya Koo on social media after he was spotted in a video calling on the government to help fix a road in the Ashanti Region.

Many netizens pointed out how Agya Koo, who is a sympathiser of the now-opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), was silent during the tenure of the previous government but is speaking out now that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.

In reaction to the backlash on his X account on April 1, 2025, the actor stated that he was “surprised” by the response from government supporters.

He argued that President John Dramani Mahama is responsible for the well-being of all citizens, irrespective of their party affiliations.

“It’s indeed surprising that some people don’t want us to criticise the government just because the president is from their party. Don’t forget that he is the leader of Ghana, not just the NDC party.

“It’s interesting to note that some Ghanaians have high expectations from the NDC because they think Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia didn’t perform well,” he stated.
