Ghanaians have been extremely upset by the unveiling of the funeral poster for Joana Yabani Deladem Aku, a 21-year-old final-year Biological Science student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who was tragically assassinated on campus.

The family announced that the funeral will be held on April 5, 2025, at Jehovah Shammah Assemblies of God Church in New Ashongman. The burial service is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. A thanksgiving service will be conducted a week later, on April 13, 2025, at the same location. Her parents, Dr. John B.K Yabani and Mrs. Rejoice Amakie Yabani, have asked relatives, friends, and well-wishers to pay their final tribute to their beloved daughter.

The announcement of her funeral has triggered an outpouring of passion on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing their sadness and appealing for justice. The young student died in a tragic incident captured on CCTV footage. According to reports, she was killed by her lover during a heated dispute.

Following her unfortunate death, the Ghana Police Service conducted an investigation and apprehended the culprit, Daniel Tuffour, who is still in detention. The case has since received national attention, prompting requests for greater security on university campuses to protect students.

Many Ghanaians have used social media to grieve her death and show their support for her mourning family. Some are calling on authorities to guarantee that justice be served quickly. Others have regarded her passing as a devastating loss and provided supportive thoughts to her parents and loved ones.
