Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes has further endeared himself to the club’s supporters by singing an x-rated chant about rivals Sunderland during the Carabao Cup trophy parade.

An estimated 150,000 Newcastle fans were in attendance as the club celebrated their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Guimaraes couldn’t resist the opportunity to sing fellow midfielder Sandro Tonali‘s chant, which includes a reference to Newcastle’s arch-rivals Sunderland.

The chant goes: ‘Sandro Tonali, he eats spaghetti, he loves Moretti, he hates f****** Sunderland’.

Newcastle fans were delighted with Guimaraes’ antics, with the 27-year-old already a hugely popular figure at the club.

The Magpies ended their long wait for a domestic trophy as they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final on March 16.

Dan Burn and Alexander Isak scored for Newcastle, who prevailed despite Federico Chiesa netting for Liverpool late on.

Guimaraes played the entirety of the final and made six appearances in the competition this season, with the only game that he missed being the first leg of the semi-final away to Arsenal.

Since joining from Lyon in January 2022, Guimaraes has made 144 appearances for Newcastle and has scored 20 goals, while he has provided 24 assists.

The open-top bus started out at St James’ Park before eventually making its way round to the Town Moor.

Hordes of supporters lined the streets, with some climbing lampposts to get a better view of the action.

Newcastle commenced their Carabao Cup campaign by overcoming Nottingham Forest on penalties in the second round.

That victory was followed by successes against AFC Wimbledon, Chelsea and Brentford before victories against Arsenal in both legs of the semi-final.

Ant and Dec were amongst the Newcastle fans in attendance, with the pair interviewing manager Eddie Howe.

Howe outlined how impressed he was with the fact that so many Newcastle fans were present for the parade.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Howe said: ‘Unbelievable. I didn’t know what to expect today.

‘Obviously I was hoping for something really special and hoping the weather is good but this is incredible, absolutely mind-blowing.
