Global Media Alliance’s YFM and BBC World Service have announced a strategic partnership to deliver BBC World Service’s news programme ‘The World in 2 Minutes’ to listeners on YFM.

The program will air across YFM’s stations in Accra (107.9FM), Kumasi (102.5FM), and Takoradi (97.9FM) – collectively known as the Y Triangle – starting March 31, 2025.

“The World In 2 Minutes” will broadcast hourly from 6AM to 6PM each day, providing listeners with succinct updates on major global developments. This collaboration aims to enhance news accessibility for YFM’s audience while maintaining the station’s dynamic and youth-oriented programming.

Dr Timothy Karikari, Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Group said “As a leading youth and urban platform, YFM does more music and less talk so “The World In 2 Minutes’’ will keep our listeners informed but in a format that they will enjoy.”

“Our urban listeners are always on the move but still want to stay informed about what’s happening globally. This program fits perfectly into their lifestyle, delivering relevant international updates without interrupting their day. We are pleased to work with BBC News to bring this content to our audience across the golden YFM Triangle,” he said.

Mary Lusiba, Head of Business Development Africa, at the BBC World Service said “We are pleased to bring ‘The World in 2 Minutes’ to YFM listeners across Ghana. This short news programme delivers the latest headlines in a concise, engaging, and accessible way.”

“Expanding access to trusted, high-quality journalism remains a priority for the BBC, and partnerships like this allow us to complement YFM’s exciting music content with our globally respected reporting, providing listeners with an additional source of credible and engaging news,” she said

The program will be accessible across all YFM stations in Ghana’s Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi and will be available on YFM’s digital platforms, including the station’s website (www.yfmghana.com) and social media channels.
