Ghanaian socialite Emil Wood, popularly known as Nana Tornado, has recounted a time when his father attempted to “deliver” him from what was believed to be feminism and homosexuality.

According to Nana Tornado, his father had invited some church members to pray over him in an effort to ‘cast out’ these spirits.

“There was a time when my father called some church members to come and pray, trying to cast out the feminism and homosexuality he believed were in me,” he shared in a discussion on the Bants, Rants & Confessions podcast.

The prayer session lasted for more than thirty minutes, but Nana Tornado’s main concern was not the supposed deliverance, he was hungry.

“They prayed for about thirty minutes, but I was really hungry and wanted them to leave. So, I pretended to fall, as if the prayers had worked,” he said.

He went on to describe his father’s reaction after he pretended that the spirit had worked, adding that his father was filled with joy and was screaming that the prayers had been effective.

“When I fell, my dad was overjoyed and shouted, ‘It is gone!’ However, he didn’t realize that things had only worsened,” Tornado stated with a laugh.

Nana Tornado also criticised the assumption that men who display feminine traits are possessed or influenced by spirits.

“Many people believe that if they see you like that, you’re being haunted by spirits. What they fail to realize is that everyone is born different,” he added.

Nana Tornado added that society often rushes to judge such individuals based on stereotypes rather than understanding that people express themselves in different ways.
