Ghanaian reggae artiste and media personality, Blakk Rasta, has raised questions for President John Dramani Mahama following the emergence of a petition to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo from office.
Speaking on 3FM on March 26, 2025, Blakk Rasta expressed disappointment in the Chief Justice for her poor performance after assuming office.
He emphasised that Gertrude Torkornoo lacks patriotism and that her presence in the current John Dramani Mahama-led administration could hinder progress.
“Why on earth is Gertrude Torkornoo sitting there for? This is a woman who has shown no respect for patriotism for this country. She is overly partisan. I love women in high positions but not corrupt, thieving women. Not dishonest women who hide several millions of hard currencies under their beds… Gertrude Torkornoo should have long been relegated to the hole that Nana Addo finds himself right now” he said.
Blakk Rasta also recalled how he praised Gertrude Torkornoo when she was first appointed to office, but his expectations were quickly dashed after she assumed her role.
He argued that when she was appointed, she exhibited signs of competence and patriotism but later practiced the opposite of what she had preached.
“When she was appointed, I was one of those who applauded her. I love to see women rise in a country that has the least respect for women. My heart skips several beats in jubilation.
“The first thing she did was run to the church and thank God for where she found herself. She was seen as a no-nonsense woman whose heart beat for Ghana, but in no time, her true chameleon colours started showing in various ways,” he stated.
Meanwhile, three individuals have sought the removal of the Chief Justice.
This was made public after the spokesperson to the President, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a press statement, noted that the president has forwarded three petitions to the Council of State for consultation.
