The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have fined Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak GH¢ 20,000 after the club breached security during a league game.

The Disciplinary Committee of the GFA found the Phobians guilty of a security breach during their league game against Young Apostles on March 8, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 26, 2025, the committee stated that Hearts of Oak allowed an unaccredited individual to access the safe zone at the University of Ghana Stadium.

“Accra Hearts of Oak SC have been handed a GH¢ 20,000 fine (GH¢ 10,000 of which is suspended for the rest of the season) by the Disciplinary Committee for misconduct following their Ghana Premier League match against Young Apostles FC on March 8, 2025,” the statement read.

“The club was found guilty of allowing unaccredited persons, specifically supporters, into the safe zone, compromising matchday security and bringing the game into disrepute.”

The committee cautioned Hearts of Oak that they could face severe sanctions if such misconduct occurs again.

This punishment is part of the GFA’s enhanced security and safety measures for football games in the country following the tragic death of a Kotoko fan who was stabbed during a league game.
