Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has returned to Ghana following the team’s trip to Morocco for their match against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.

The Black Stars wrapped up the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in spectacular fashion, securing impressive victories against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and March 24, 2025, respectively.

The matches showcased moments of brilliance and key performances that have strengthened their position at the top of the standings. Among the standout players was Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare.

The goalkeeper has had an incredible journey, transitioning from battling relegation with Great Olympics last season to becoming the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper during the qualifiers.

As a result of his stellar performances, praise has been pouring in for the Black Stars’ new number one, who received a warm and celebratory welcome upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport.

In a video shared by X user Official Meatpie, a group of individuals played drums to celebrate Asare’s return. In a gesture of appreciation, he generously gifted one of the drummers some cash.

Following Comoros’ victory over Chad on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the Black Stars‘ lead at the top of the standings has been narrowed to three points. They currently sit at the top with 15 points, while Comoros trails in second place with 12 points.
