Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has showered praises on his former teammate, Christian Atsu, naming him as the best player he has ever played with.

While discussing Atsu’s impact on the Black Stars, Ayew acknowledged the winger’s incredible talent and contributions on the pitch, emphasizing that Atsu deserves more recognition for his achievements.

The two shared nearly a decade with the Black Stars until Atsu’s untimely demise in February 2023.

While with the team, Atsu exhibited remarkable speed, flair, and trickery, particularly during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In the tournament, Atsu scored twice, earned the Player of the Tournament award, and clinched the Goal of the Tournament accolade as the Black Stars narrowly missed out on the trophy.

During an interview with Joy Sports, Jordan Ayew was asked about the best player he has played with. While he acknowledged several great teammates, he ultimately selected the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger.

“To be honest, I’ll go for Atsu. He deserves a lot of credit and plaudits for what he has done in his career,” Jordan said.

Jordan further called for more recognition of Atsu’s legacy.

“What he has done for the national team. Don’t get me wrong. You have Asamoah Gyan, you have Dede. Honestly, playing in that generation with that group of people was just unbelievable. It was top, but I’ll give it to Christian because, obviously, he deserves plaudits. People don’t talk much about him, but he was a really top player,” he added.

Atsu played 65 times for the Black Stars, scoring 10 goals during his illustrious career.
