Forward Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s five-goal victory over Chad in a 2026 World Cup qualifier will boost the team’s confidence in upcoming matches.

The Black Stars had struggled in front of goal, scoring only three times in their last six games, a poor run that led to their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, their emphatic 5-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday was a statement performance.

“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said after the match.

The Black Stars wasted no time, with Semenyo opening the scoring in just the second minute. Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah also got on the scoresheet in a dominant display.

Ghana controlled possession and created several chances, showing attacking sharpness that had been missing in previous games.

The victory moves Ghana to the top of Group I in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Otto Addo’s side now shifts focus to a crucial clash against Madagascar on Monday, where they will aim to build on this momentum.
