The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunkpurugu Constituency, Dr Abed Lamangin Bandim, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Information and Communications in Parliament.

Dr Bandim, a former Chief Manager at the National Communications Authority (NCA), brings extensive experience in telecommunications regulation, consumer protection, and corporate governance.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Communication Management from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his new role, Dr Bandim also serves as a member of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation and the Committee on Public Administration and State Interest.

His appointment is expected to strengthen parliamentary oversight on communication and information-related policies, with stakeholders anticipating a progressive and policy-driven approach under his leadership.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and the Electronic Money Issuers Chamber of Ghana have welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s information and communications sector.

In a statement, the chambers pledged their support for Dr Bandim in advancing policies that will enhance connectivity, expand digital financial services, and strengthen cybersecurity to benefit businesses and individuals across the country.
