Ghana’s Black Stars notched a resounding 5-0 victory over Chad in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers matchday five match at the Accra Sports Stadium. The decisive victory placed Ghana atop Group I with 12 points, poised for qualification.

Ghana dominated from the start, scoring in only the second minute when Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo scored from a rebound.

Inaki Williams doubled the score in the 32nd minute from a header on Kingsley Schindler’s cross. Two minutes before halftime, Jordan Ayew scored 3-0 from the penalty kick after Semenyo was fouled.

In the second half, Ghana continued their attack. Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu extended the margin, heading an accurately placed corner by Ernest Nuamah. Nuamah then put the game to rest in the 69th minute after a fine pass from Ayew.

Coach Otto Addo began well with a strong team, including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Mohammed Salisu who impressed.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was making his international debut, but he was not required to do much as Chad barely tested him.

Cercle Brugge’s Lawrence Agyekum also made his debut when he replaced Partey in the second half.

With this result, Ghana now focuses on a crucial game against Madagascar on Monday in Morocco.

A win would seal their leadership of Group I and move them closer to a 2026 FIFA World Cup spot. Chad, still without a win, will face Comoros next.
